starting a sentence in one language, y después terminarla en otro– or a single phrase, pero enterita, no sólo una palabra, in one language within a sentence in another language,
is probably the most visible of my linguistic quirks. (second maybe to plain wordyness, but far more obvious than my love of neologisms involving spanish active participles, my rampant, gross misuse of gerunds, or my tendency to spell “needles” with a k when talking about the knitting kind).
I’m particularly fond of the phenomenon because it shows how people can and do belong in more than one group, hold more than one culture, and navigate this duality with great ease,
far more ease than monolinguals would think from their sad plain vanilla monoculture world (… little too late to say “no ofense”, isn’t it?)
